I Despair of THIS Patience!

Seaham Hall (October 22 1814)

My Uncle is obliged to leave us next week, and is in despair lest you should not arrive before he must go.

It is odd enough that my task should be to pacify the old ones, and teach them patience…

They are growing quite ungovernable, and I must have your assistance to manage them.

To your epistle this day I have only to answer that when other delays are at an end I shall make none, but enter into the contract of “obedience” (for I do perform the other conditions) as willingly as you can desire.
